AFGHAN WIDOWS
BAKERY PROJECT
A BAKERY THAT DOES MORE THAN BAKE BREAD
For many widows in Afghanistan, earning a steady income can be difficult. At the same time, vulnerable families continue to struggle to afford basic food.
The Afghan Widows Bakery Project responds to both needs.
Widows in Kabul operate small bakeries, earning an income while producing fresh bread that is distributed to vulnerable families in their communities.
Now in its second year, the project is building on what was started in Year 1 — keeping the bakeries running, strengthening the widows’ livelihoods, and continuing bread support for 60 families.

3. EARN AN INCOME
The bakery provides ongoing work and helps participating widows support their households.
4. FEED FAMILIES
Fresh bread is distributed regularly to vulnerable families in the community.
