Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza: An Urgent Call for Action
The Escalating Humanitarian Emergency
Gaza continues to face a severe and highly fragile humanitarian crisis. Most of the population remains internally displaced, with approximately 2.1 million people concentrated in less than half of the Gaza Strip and many families living in overcrowded and difficult conditions. Humanitarian assistance has helped improve food security and nutrition since the October 2025 ceasefire, but needs remain extremely high. An estimated 1.4 million people are projected to face Crisis-level or worse acute food insecurity through December 2026, including approximately 212,000 people facing Emergency conditions. Access to safe water also remains a major concern, with OCHA reporting that about 90% of the population experienced moderate-to-high water insecurity in early July. Continued humanitarian access and sustained assistance remain essential to protecting lives and preventing further deterioration.
Current Situation Overview
- Human Cost Remains Severe: Since October 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been reported killed and over 174,000 injured in Gaza. These casualty figures are reported by Gaza’s Ministry of Health and cited by the UN; some figures have not been independently verified by the UN.
- Health System Under Enormous Strain: Gaza’s health system continues to operate with severely reduced capacity. As of August 2026, only 38 health-service delivery points were reported fully functioning, while hundreds were operating only partially or were non-functional. - Displacement, Food and Water Crisis: Most of Gaza’s population remains internally displaced and living under difficult conditions. WHAT WE’RE DOING NOW IN GAZA
HOT MEALS FOR FAMILIES IN GAZA
Humanity Increased continues to provide emergency food assistance to families facing severe food insecurity in Gaza.
As part of our recent response, 500 freshly prepared hot meals were provided to individuals and families affected by the ongoing crisis.
For displaced families and people struggling to access food, a ready-to-eat meal provides immediate support during an extremely difficult time.
EMERGENCY FOOD PACKS
Alongside cooked meals, Humanity Increased provided 100 food packs to vulnerable and conflict-affected families in Gaza.
These food packages help families prepare meals at home at a time when food availability, household income and access to basic necessities remain severely limited.
Priority is given to families facing the greatest hardship, including displaced and food-insecure households.
BABY KITS FOR FAMILIES WITH INFANTS
Families with babies face an additional challenge in Gaza: finding essential infant supplies.
Humanity Increased distributed 100 baby kits containing diapers and infant formula to households with young children.
These kits help parents meet some of their babies’ most immediate needs during displacement and ongoing shortages.
MEDICAL CARE WHEN IT IS NEEDED MOST
Access to basic healthcare remains difficult for many families in Gaza.
As part of our emergency response, Humanity Increased supported one day of medical services, including consultations, basic treatment and medical assistance for vulnerable community members.
The medical response helps people who may otherwise have limited access to primary healthcare during the crisis.

Each winter food pack provides a vulnerable family with staple foods and ready-to-use items.
WHAT’S INSIDE EACH PACK
CANNED QURBANI MEAT FOR GAZA
Our Gaza support also includes a Qurbani project designed around the challenges of delivering meat into Gaza.
Rather than relying on fresh meat and refrigeration, the Qurbani meat is processed into 800g cans, giving it a longer shelf life and greater flexibility for transportation, storage and distribution.
The Gaza project targets 450 vulnerable families, with each selected household planned to receive four cans of meat.
