Restore Sight, Restore Hope: Cataract Initiative in Ethiopia and Uganda
At Humanity-Increased, we believe that everyone deserves the right to see the world in all its beauty. In Ethiopia and Uganda, millions are deprived of this basic right due to cataracts—a treatable condition that remains the leading cause of preventable blindness. Our mission is to change this narrative by providing life-changing cataract surgeries to those in dire need.
The Challenge
Cataracts account for nearly 70% of blindness in Uganda and a significant portion in Ethiopia, affecting over 1.6% of the population. These numbers are not just statistics; they represent fathers who can’t work, mothers who can’t see their children’s faces, and children who can’t attend school.

RESTORING SIGHT IS RESTORING LIFE
Helping someone regain their sight can give them back independence, mobility, and the ability to take part in everyday life again.
For a vulnerable patient, cataract surgery can be the difference between depending on others and being able to care for themselves again.
GIVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT
For someone living with cataracts, restoring sight can change everyday life.
It can mean being able to walk safely again, recognize loved ones, return to work, care for family, and live with greater independence.
Your support helps make cataract surgery available to patients who may otherwise continue living with preventable vision loss.
A gift toward cataract surgery can help someone see again and regain a part of life they thought they had lost.
