Syrian Refugee Container Village – Haya, Hatay, Türkiye
Forgotten by Many, Remembered by You
In 2023, after the earthquake struck Türkiye, the first “tent city” was established in Haya, Hatay. What began as emergency shelter is now the only home for 26 Syrian refugee families.
But these are not homes. They are metal containers, each housing 5–6 people, with no insulation against the searing summer heat or freezing winter cold.
Their needs are urgent:
- Fans or AC units to survive the heat.
- Hygiene boxeswith essentials like soap, detergent, dishwashing liquid, shampoo, and hand soap.
- Long-term housing as their homes in northern Syria have been completely destroyed — rebuilding costs $20,000 each.
“The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to others.
— Al-Mu’jam al-Awsat
Most NGOs have moved on, shifting their aid to inside Syria. These families have been left on their own.
